Steve Anderson

Steve Anderson was one of a number of players who started his CFL career with one of th American expansion teams and then remained on in the league, long after the U.S. teams folded in 1995.  Anderson started his career with the Los Vegas Posse in 1994, and when they folded was picked up by Birmingham in the second round of the dispersal draft in 1995.  Anderson was a second round pick in another dispersal draft a year later, when the rest of the American teams folded.  This time, Anderson was selected by the Calgary Stampeders.  Anderson played four seasons in Calgary (1996-99) and then signed as a free agent with the BC Lions in Ferbruary 2000.  Anderson played 8 games with the Lions before being released in August, 2000 and picked up for the remainder of the season by Edmonton.  Anderson remained with Edmonton for 2001, but was traded early in 2002 back to Calgary for a third round draft pick in the CFL College Draft.  Anderson posted 22 career quarterback sacks and scored one touchdown, the latter coming on a 26 yard fumble return in 2001 with Edmonton.
