At 6' 4", Ray Alexander made a big targetg that Quarterbacks seemed to like. His first stop in the CFL was in Calgary in 1985, when he joined tghe club in September after being released by the Denver Broncos of the NFL. Alexander had 22 catches in just 8 games that rookie season and then in his first full season in 1986, he had 88 catches for 1590 yards, which also brought him West All-Star honours. That performance brought renewed interest from the NFL and Alexander signed as a free agent with the Dallas Cowboys and spent the next three years (1987-1989) in the NFL. Alexander returned for his second stint in the CFL in 1990 as he signed as a free agent with the BC Lions. In his first year back, Alexander had 65 catches for 1120 yards and his second West All-Star honour. In 1991, Alexander had his "career year" with 104 catches for 1650 yards and both West and CFL All-Star awards. The Lions released Alexander in June of 1992, later resigning him in August, so he played only 10 games in 1992, but he still had 56 catches and 786 yards. Alexander bounced back to post thousand yard receiving seasons again in 1993 and 1994 with another West All-Star nod in 1994 for his 85 catch, 1234 yard season. Alexander became a free agent after 1994 and signed with the Ottawa Rough Riders where he had 59 catches and 801 yards in just 14 games. He was traded back to the BC Lions for WR Robert Gordon, but never played any more games for the Lions.
