After attending North Dakota, Donovan Alexander was signed by Montreal as a free agent for the 2008 season. After one season with the Alouettes, Alexander was traded to the Saskatchewan Roughriders for a couple of draft picks. Alexander took over as a starterr at cornerback in 2009 with the Riders, and started the 2010 season as the starter before losing his job. Alexander played in both the 2009 and 2010 Grey Cups for the Riders, both losses to his former team, the Alouettes. The Riders released Alexander after the 2010 season and he was signed by Edmonton.
