John Alderton

John Aldetont was a star football player in high school and earned a scholarship to the University of Maryland. Alderton played four years at Maryland, and was co-captain in 1952 when the team went undefeated and won the Sugar Bowl. Alderton was drafted in the seventh round of the 1953 NFL college draft by the Pitttsburgh Steelers and he played one season for them in 1953. After spending a couple of years in the U.S. Air Force where he continued to play football at Bolling Air Force Base, Alderton joined the Calgary Stampeders in 1956. A dislocated shoulder ended Alderton's season and football career and he returned to his home in Cumberland, MD.

John Alderton passed away on May 8, 1956.
