Born in Newcastle, PA, Nick Albert went to the University of Tulsa. Albert attended the Chicago Bears training camp in 1948, and joined the Edmonton Eskimos in 1949 where he played guard and center. Following his football career, Albert wrestled professionally with promoter Stu Hart. Nick Albert passed away on June 12, 1985. Albert kicked in the face in Regina - September 20, 1949 Follow-up on the Regina incident - September 22, 1949
Note: the 2000 Calgary Media Guide lists Nick Albert as having played for the Stampeders in 1946. There is no other confirmation on this. The September 22, 1949 article (above) refers to Albert as a homegrown Edmonton boy which appears to be incorrect according to information received from family members.
