Louis (Slug) Segatore was born in Montreal and after playing college football at Loyola College in Montreal, played for a number of Montreal teams during his career. Segatore played for the famed Winged Wheelers team in their final season in 1935 then played for various short lived replacement teams, the Indians in 1937, the Cubs in 1938, the Royals in 1939, and the Bulldogs* in 1940 and 1941. During the war with most of the civilian teams suspending operation, Segatore played on military teams. In 1943, Segatore played for the Verdun Grads of the QRFU while curiously enough acting as the line coach for the Montreal Navy team. In 1944, Segatore suited up for the Navy team and won a Grey Cup with them. Segatore's younger brother Ollie Segatore would also win a Grey Cup with the Alouettes in 1949. Following his retirement as a player, Segatore volunteered as a coach in amateur football in Quebec and would go on to coach high school football. Louis Segatore passed away in November, 2000.
* The 1940 team didn't actually have a nickname and were just called the Montreal Football Club, but the franchise continued in 1941when they added the nickname Bulldogs.
