Jack Pardee

 

Jack Pardee coached the Birmingham Barracudas in their one season in the CFL in 19995. Prior to that, however, Pardee had a long distinguished career both as a player and coach at both the college and NFL levels. Pardee was an All-American at Texas A&M and was inducted into the college football hall of fame as a player in 1986.

After playing football at Texas A&M, Pardee was a second round draft pick of the Los Angelas Rams in 1957. Pardee would go on to have a long 16 year career in the NFL as a linebacker from 1957 to 1972. All but the last two were with the Rams and Pardee finished his career with the Washington Redskins (1971-72).

After that long playing career, Pardee embarked on an even longer coaching career in the NFRL and college levels. Pardee started his coaching career in 1974 with the Florida Blazers of the WFL and then became the youngest coach in the NFL in 1975 with the Cicago Bears. Pardee coach the Bears. Pardee coached the Bears for three seasons from 1975 to 1977, followed by three seasons as the Washington Redskins from 1978 to 1980. Pardee was named NFL coach of the year in 1979. Pardee returned to head coaching with two seasons running the Houston Gamblers of the USFL in 1984 and 1985. Pardee remained in Texasfor his next two head coaching gigs, three years with the Universityh of Houston (1987-89) and then back to the NFL with the Houston Oilers for five seasons from 1990 to 1994.

Jack Pardee passed away on April 1, 2013.
