The Montreal Alouettes announced on Wenesday that Pat Meyer has been named the team's offensive coordinator after spending the 2012 season as the club's offensive line coach.

Under Meyer's tutelage, the Alouettes' offensive line allowed just 30 sacks, tied for fewest in the league last season. With plenty of time to locate open receivers, quarterback Anthony Calvillo was able to lead the Alouettes to second in the CFL in passing yards and touchdown passes thrown during the regular season.

"Pat has been a big part of our offence's success this past season and I am happy that he has accepted this position with the Alouettes. His previous experience as an offensive coordinator as well as his knowledge of our players and this league will be great assets," said Alouettes head coach Marc Trestman. "Our players appreciate working with him, which made the decision that much easier."

The Youngstown, OH native will also remain the Alouettes' offensive line coach following a 2012 campaign which saw his blocking schemes help propel the running game as the team averaged 5.0 yards per carry, and three different players, Brandon Whitaker, Victor Anderson and Adrian McPherson, each rushed for over 100 yards in a game.

"Pat has made a very positive impact on our franchise in a short time frame," explained Alouettes General Manager Jim Popp. "He is a true professional at his trade and a fine choice as our next offensive coordinator."

Prior to joining the Alouettes, Meyer served as the Colorado State Rams' offensive coordinator in 2010 and 2011 and as their offensive line coach from 2008 to 2011. He also spent seven years in the North Carolina State athletic department, where he got to work with Marc Trestman. He will also remain the Alouettes' offensive line coach. Both were with the Wolfpack in 2005 and 2006 with Trestman serving as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, while Meyer was named head of the entire athletic department's strength programs. Meyer launched his coaching career at the University of Memphis, where he spent one season as a graduate assistant in 1997
