Abe Zvonkin

Abe Zvonkin was born n New York, but came to Canada when he was age 2.  Zvonkin started his football career with the Hamilton Tigers in 1933 and then in not unusaul twist back the, played for Queen's University in 1933-35 where he was a second team All-East selection at Tackle in all three years. [Note:  The All-East selections were picked from players in the IRFU, ORFU and colleges such as Queen's].    Zvonkin return to the Tigers for three for years in 1937-1939 and then Wordld War II got in the way of his football career.  Zvonkin returned to football in 1943 and 1944 with the Hamilton Wildcats.  Besides being a star football player, Zvonkin was also an outstandng wrestler, starting in the amateur ranks and then moving into the professional circuit.  After retiring from football and wrestling, Zvonkin along wis wife went into the dog grooming business, and ended up showin their dogs around the world in shows.  Abe Zvonkin passed away in 2002 at the age of 91.
