Minter was a highly touted running back out of Boise State who signed with the Argos in 1981. Minter has a good, if not spectacular rookie season, running for 815 yards on 182 carries and catching 28 passes for another 371 yards. Minter was named the top rookie in the East and the eventual runner-up in the CFL while earning Eastern All-Star recognition. In 1982, Minter saw less action as a runner as his totals dropped to 120 carries and 563 yards, but he saw a sharp rise in his receiving stats with 61 catches for 826 yards. Those numbers, especially his receiving stats, gave Minter his second Eastern All-Star honour. Injuries cost Minter a couple of games in 1983 with his rushing numbers about the same (599 yards) but with only 38 catches. Minter became a free agent afte rthe 1983 season and signed with the New York Jets of the NFL, playng with them until 1986 when her returned to Toronto late in the season and played just four games. Toronto traded Minter to Ottawa in June of 1987 for QB Gilbert Renfroe. Minter played 13 games for Ottawa, running for a decent 627 yards, but with a fairly low 4.2 yard average while catching 37 passes for another 327 yards. Minter finished his career with 2774 yards. One interesting statistic about Minter is that he completed three of the six passes he threw in his career, with all three of his completions going for touchdowns!
