Marvin (Marv) Meirowitz

A native of Newton MA, Marv played three years for McGill before graduating in 1950. He started his career at Syracuse University, and was known for his hard-nose style, and was ejected from half of the McGill Redmen’s 1948 contests for fighting. He attended the Alouettes training camp in 1950 but failed to make the team. Before  signing with the Alouettes in May 1952 as a “non-import”, Meirowitz played with the Lakeshore Flyers (Quebec Rugby Football Union) in 1950 and coached at McGill under head coach Vic Obeck in 1951. After playing in the 1952 and 1953 seasons, Marvin returned to his native US. Marv Meirowitz passed away on October 26, 2005.
