His christian name was John, but Lockett was commonly known as J.W. Lockett was an undrafted player out of Central Oklahoma State. Lockett played five years in the NFL, making quite a tour with five teams in five years. Lockett played one year each with Dallas, San Francisco, Dallas again, Baltimore and Washington from 1961 to 1964. Lockett joined the Montreal Alouttes in 1965 and had pretty good success with 643 yards rushing to finish fourth in the East in rushing. Lockett, however, also fumbled the ball 9 times to lead the division in that negative category. Lockett played only two games with Montreal in 1966. J.W. Locektt passed away on August 18, 2003.
