Walter (Wally) Lencz

Wally Lencz was a true Montreal boy.  He was born in Montreal, attended Catholic High School, played junoir football with the NDG Maple Leafs, and then played for the Alouettes. Ok, Lencz did try out with the BC Lions in 1957 before returning to play junior football with the Maple Leafs that year. Lencz was a back-up at halfback / fullback on offence and linebacker on defence.  As well, Lencz saw action as apunt returner with Montreal.  Lencz went on to play two seasons with the Alouettes in 1958 and 1959. Lencz returned to the Alouettes in 1960, but didn't dress for any regular season games before being traded in September to Calgary along with defensive tackle Ted Foret for linebacker Bob O'Neil.  Lencz never did play for Calgary. Wally Lencz passed away at age 33 on June 30, 1971 from a heart attack.
