Hantla played two seasons with the San Francisco 49ers of the NFL (1954-55) before coming North to the CFL. Hantla was with BC in 1956 and 1957. In 1959, he played in an exibition game with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, but no regular season games. He played mainly offensive and defensive line, but apparently saw some action at fullback with BC as he had one pass reception in 1956.
