Vern Goyer

A native of Belleville, Ontario, Vern Goyer hails from a family with a strong athletic background.  Vern himself played football, hockey, baseball and softball - for which he was inducted into the Belleville Sports Hall of Fame in 1987.  Goyer served in the Royal Canadian Navy during the second world war, and played on the Halifax Navy football team in 1943.  Goyer joined the Toronto Argos in 1945 and went on to win a Grey Cup with them that season.

The Toronto All-Time roster lists Goyer only for 1946 with one game played, but other sources have him paying in Toronto in 1945 as well.
