Rickey Foggie

Rickey Foggie was mainly a dependable backup quarterback during his ten year year from 1988 to 1997 with a delayed postcript prompted by injuries in 2002.  Foggie started his career with BC when he signed as a free-agent in April of 1988.  Foggie didn't see much playing times in two and a part seasons with BC, though he demonstrated his ability to run with the ball.  Released in August of 1990, Toronto signed Foggie and he got a chance to be a starter.  In 10 games in 1990, Foggie ran for 674 yards.  Foggie continued as the Argo starter for the next two easons (1991 and 1992) and threw for over 3000 yards in both seasons though his completion percentage was under 50% in both seasons.  Again, Foggie did it with his feet running for 644 yards in 1991 and 444 yards in 1992.  Foggie was traded to Edmonton in January of 1993 in a huge deal multi-player deal. Going to Edmonton along with Foggie was CB Ed Berry, WR Eddie Brown, LB Bruce Dickson, SB J.P. Izquiedo, DL Leonard Johnson, WR Darrell K. Smith and DB Don Wilson for RB Craig Ellis, QB Tracy Hamm, RB Chris Johnstone, DB Enis Jackson, DB Travis Oliver and WR Ken Winey! Foggie was once again mainly a backup in Edmonton for two seasons (1993 and 1994) before being released and then signed as a free-agent by the expansion Memphis Mad Dogs.  Foggie backed up Damon Allen in Mephis and was then drafted in the ninth round of the dispersal draft by Montreal.  Foggie was released by Montreal and didn't play in 1996, but returned as a free agent with Hamilton in 1997.  When injuries struck the BC Lions at QB in 2002, Foggie came out of retirement to act as the backup one more time.
