Robert Drummond

Drummond was a third round draft pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in 1989 and played with them until 1992.  After his rlease, by the Eagles, Drummond had tryouts with Pitsburg and Denver of the NFL before signing with the CFL expansion  Baltimore team in September of 1994.  In his year and a bit with Baltimore, Drummond saw action more as a blocking back and receiver.  Of course, Baltimore had a guy named Mike Pringle at running back as well and Pringle would go on to become the leading rusher in CFL history..

Drummond became a free agent in February, 1996 and signed with Toronto where he got a chance to be the Number one back.  In his first season in Toronto, Drummond rand for 935 yards on 160 carries and caught 72 passes for antohe 735 yards tn All-Canadian honours.  Drummond followed that up with an even better season in 1997 as he cracked the thousand yard barrier with 1134 yards and caught 85 passes for another 840 yards to nail down his second All-Canadian selection.

Drummond became a free agent again after 1997 and signed with the BC Lions where he played for four years (1998 to 2001).  Drummond missed six games due to injuries in his first season in BC to drop under the thousand yard mark, but bounced back in 1999 with a career high 1309 yards to earn a Western All-Star spot. Drummond's totals were down a bit in the next two years as he ran for 823 yards in 2000 and 809 in 2001, but that was largely because he was sharing the backfield with Sean Millington to give the Lions a very potent 1-2 punch at running back. Drummond was released by BC prior to the start of the 2002 season and he returned to Toronto to play one final season, rushing for 778 yards.  Drummond finished his career with an impressive 6706 yards and with 393 catches for 4033 yards.

Drummond played in four Grey Cups and was on the winning side all four times. He wonwith Baltimore in 1995, then with Toronto in 1996 and 1997 to make it three years in a row and won his fourth with BC in 2000.
