Al Bruno

Al Bruno was a third round draft pick of the Philadelphia Eagles of the NFL in 1951 after playing his college ball in Kentucky where he is member of that school's sports Hall of Fame.  Bruno came north to play with Toronto in 1952, just in time to win a Grey Cup with the Argos. After one more season with the Argos in 1953, Bruno played one season with Ottawa in 1954 and two seasons with Winnipeg (1955-56). Bruno finished his playing days with theLondon Lords of the ORFU (Ontario Rugby Football Conference) from 1958 to 1960, where he also served as the team's head coach..

After his playing career ended, Bruno continued his coaching career. Bruno returned to the CFL as an assistant coach with Ottawa for two seasons (1966-67) and then with rHamilton for three seasons from 1968 to 1970. In 1981, Bruno returned to Hamilton, thistime as the team'sDirector ofPlayer Personel and then would later take over as Head Coach. .  He replaced Bud Riley as coach on October 7, 1983 and was fired on September 24, 1990.

  His coaching record ws 55-56-3 with four trips to the Grey Cup and one win in 1986.

Al Bruno passed away on October 5, 2014 at the age of 87.
