Jeff Boyd

Boyd was originally signed as a free agent by Edmonton in November of 1982.  Winnipeg claimed Boyd from Edmonton on waivers during the pre-season in 1983.  Boyd had a very respectable rookie season with 50 catches for 974 yards in just 14 games.  Playing in all 16 games in 1984, Boyd cracked the thousand yard mark with 1106 yards on 65 catches.  1985 marked Boyd's best season as he set career marks in catches with 76 and yards with 1372.  Boyd was both a Western and CFL All-Star in 1985.  As a free agent, Boyd signed with the Cleveland Browns of the NFL, and returned to Winnpeg after his release from the NFL. In just 7 games, Boyd had 35 catches for 619 yards.  Boyd had his third sthousand yard season in 1987 with Winnipeg, making 57 catches for 1039 yards.  Just prior to the 1988 season, Boyd was traded to Toronto for FB Tony Johns and WR Jeff Smith.  Boyd had his fourth thousand yard season in 1988 with the Argos, making 65 catches for 1159 yards.  Injuries limited Boyd to just 9 games in 1989, but he bounced back for his fifth thousand yard season in 1990.
