Derek Armstrong served mainly as a backup offensive lineman with the Stampeders for three seasons from 2006 to 2008, dressing in 24 games over those three seasons. In September of 2009, Armstrong was traded to Winnipeg along with Odell Willis, Jabari Arthur and Titus Ryan for receivers Rhomby Bryant and Arjei Franklin. Armstrong, however, did not dres for any games with either Calgary or Winnipeg in 2009.
