Pat Abbruzzi

Pat Abbruzzi was an oustanding rusher at Rhode Island (university) from 1951 to 1954 before signing with Montreal to replace Alex Webster who had departed for the NFL. Abbruzzi didn't disapoint the Alouettes or their fans as he ran for over a thousand yards in his first two seasons, winning East All-Stars in both seasons (there were no CFL All-Stars until 1962).  In those two seasons, Abbruzzi piled up the touchdowns, scoring 17 rushing touchdowns in both seasons and finishing with 19 TDs in 1955 and 20 in 1956 when his receiving touchdowns were added in.  Abbruzzi was named the Oustanding Player in the East in his rookie season in 1955.  Pat Abbruzzi passed away on June 3, 1998.
